The Centre for Global Health Research (CGHR) is a non-profit and non-partisan organization associated with the University of Toronto and St Michael’s Hospital, Toronto. CGHR’s mission is to lead high-quality public health research that advances global health for all, with particular attention to the world’s poorest populations. Its flagship project, the Million Death Study (MDS), is run in collaboration with the Government of India, and documents causes of death across the country. We have our offices in New Delhi and Bangalore in India with our head-office in Toronto, Canada.
We are looking for a summer student to join our interdisciplinary team of scientists and analysts. Under the supervision of CGHR’s scientists the successful candidate will work to improve and ensure the quality and functionality of the extensive databases that underlie CGHR’s work.
This is a full time, 4-month position located in Toronto.
The successful candidate must have strong quantitative skills and a keen interest in global health issues. S/he will work closely with our database managers to clean, organise, and manipulate data. The summer student will be responsible for organising, restructuring and documenting existing and new databases for easy and smooth migration to a new integrated database platform. S/he will also work closely with our researchers as needed to assist them in literature reviews and analysis of global and country-level data for various projects.
