Deepa is currently an administrative accounts assistant at CGHR Bangalore. Prior to joining CGHR, she had two years of experience as an accounts assistant at Rainbow International Bangalore. She earned a Bachelors degree in Commerce from Vinayaka Missions University, Salem. Her work includes maintaining human resource and budget files for all CGHR Bangalore projects. She is also responsible for maintaining day to day bank transactions, office records and stationery.
Vani Amalrajan joins CGHR as a Training Coordinator. Prior to this position, she had 8 years of experience at the St. Johns Research Institute as a Research Associate in the Division of Micronutrients. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in the field of Food and Nutrition, particularly the area of iron fortification.
At CGHR, she provides support to the physician coder training program, supervises physician coder recruitment, and manages and coordinates all related on-site logistics.
Prashant Amoli is a Database and Server Coordinator at CGHR. He earned his Masters of Computer Application from Shivaji University in Maharashtra, India. Prashant has worked in software development, and implementation and support for several IT organizations prior to joining CGHR. In his current profile, Prashant is responsible for coordination between the Office of the Registrar General India – Vital Statistics Division (ORGI-VS) and CGHR, and also offers support to ORGI-VS on the verbal autopsy quality assessment module, and other IT related issues.
Sameena has been with CGHR Bangalore as a Research Assistant for 3 years, and has completed a bachelors degree in commerce. Her work includes data collection for CGHR Bangalore projects, data entry, and coordinating with a variety of district-level policy makers.
Vijayalakshmi Hebbare is an economist at CGHR. She earned her PhD in economics of education (multidisciplinary) from Pune University and master’s degree in economics from Osmania University. Vijayalakshmi has a wide range of experience working with leading institutions in development, health and education sectors. She has been an external expert for evaluating the research projects for European Commission and has worked on several World Bank assisted projects. At CGHR, Vijayalakshmi is a co-investigator (India) on the District Evaluation Study on Health. Her research interests are cost-effectiveness analysis, planning, monitoring, and evaluation and management of information systems.
Srinivasa joined CGHR as a trainee surveyor, and is now working as a Health Surveyor. His tasks include data collection, physical measurements in the field, and data entry and other project specific activities. He has experience and interest in piloting and collecting verbal autopsy data, especially aspects of narrative collection.
Stacia Neale is CGHR’s project manger in Bangalore, India. She formerly served as the development officer for HealthyKids International at SickKids Foundation, where she was the principal fundraiser for the international projects of The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She received a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Calgary, where her research focused on the principles of visual sociology, and culminated in a photo-ethnographic study of a boys’ home in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
In her current work, Stacia is responsible for managing a number of projects involving both the Indian and Canadian branches of CGHR. Most notably, she is developing and implementing self-directed e-learning programs for the Million Death Study physician coders, as well as for the health surveyors collecting various data in the field.
Manoj is a graduate of the Masters of Public Health Program of SRM University and joins us as a Research Associate from his previous position as Technical Officer of Monitoring at the Foundation for Research in Health System, Agra, Uttar Pradesh. At CGHR Bangalore, Manoj manages aspects of research, including assessing sources and quality of health data, reviewing literature, preparing study reports, and identifying publication platforms. Manoj’s research interests also include environmental health, monitoring & evaluation, study of communicable and non communicable diseases, strategic project management.
Shreelata Rao Seshadri is a senior evaluations specialist/social development specialist with almost two decades of experience undertaking project development, monitoring and evaluation, and health systems research. Of particular interest has been the area of increasing access to quality health services for the poor and marginalized, particularly for women and tribal populations. Shreelata has a Ph.D. in sociology and has been associated with several international agencies, including the World Bank and the World Health Organization. She contributed to the International Commission on Macro-economics and Health (Working Group 5) and has more recently been involved in applying the analysis and recommendations of the Disease Control Priorities Network project to India at the national level (contributing to the report Choosing Health: An Entitlement for All Indians), as well as at the state level. Apart from working in public health, Shreelata has extensive experience working with community-based organizations, including self-help groups and local self-government institutions, as well as looking at issues concerning rural poverty.
Archana has a bachelor of arts degree, and has joined CGHR as an Administrative Assistant. Her work includes data tracking, coordination with policy makers on CGHR-related projects, and support for accounts and administration.
Senthil is a recent graduate of the Masters of Public Health Program of SRM University, and joins us as a Field Supervisor from his previous position as Research Associate at the Community Service Trust in Salem, Tamilnadu. At CGHR Bangalore, Senthil manages aspects of various field projects throughout India, including developing our verbal autopsy systems, and physician coding of the Million Death Study. Senthil’s research interests also include epidemiological studies, communicable disease, and clinical data and project management.
Suresh Rathi, an alumnus of The Aga Khan University, joins CGHR as a Senior Medical Researcher. Prior to this position, he was associated as a faculty member in the Department of Community Medicine of the SBKS Medical Institute and Research Centre, Vadodara, India. He has over ten years of varied professional experience, including acting as a Senior Program Officer with the International Clinical Epidemiology Network (INCLEN), and has published on many topics in public health, including tuberculosis, tobacco, and diabetes. His publications on scabies and tuberculosis in Pakistan were major contributions to public health research in the country, and are highly cited.
At CGHR, Suresh overseas various research projects, including blood-based epidemiology, field-based multiassay testing, physician decision-making support systems for verbal autopsies, and provides technical input on the Million Death Study (MDS) – one of the world’s largest prospective studies on premature mortality. He is also a focal person between CGHR’s Toronto, and India offices, and is the senior liaison for CGHR’s international partners and MDS collaborators. Suresh’s areas of interest are epidemiology of non-communicable disease, biostatistics, and evidence-informed medicine.
