The Centre for Global Health Research (CGHR – http://www.cghr.org/) is a non-profit and non-partisan organization associated with the University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital. CGHR’s mission is to lead high-quality public health research that advances global health for all, with particular attention to the world’s poorest populations.
We are looking for a candidate with a computer science/engineering academic background to support us in advancing computational research methods and its applications to public health. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of multidisciplinary scientists, researchers and analysts working on large-scale public health projects in our Toronto office. S/he will also work with project counterparts in international collaborative efforts. This is a full-time contract position, from May to August 2017.
The successful applicant will work closely with researchers and project coordinators at CGHR to apply computational methods to advance health research, and develop cutting-edge, machine learning-based algorithms to tackle complex, public health problems. The responsibilities also include database and app support, scientific writing and contributions towards research publications. Demonstrated ability to be an enthusiastic and self-motivated learner, work well independently and within a team, and be a critical thinker is essential to this position. S/he will gain valuable experience and skills while contributing to a wide range of projects in public health.
