The District Interventions for Successful Health Action (DISHA) project aims to increase local health care accountability in three districts of Karnataka, India: Tumkur, Raichur, and Chamrajnagar.
The main elements of the DISHA project include:
- Training Panchayati Raj (local self-government) members to monitor and evaluate public health care performance and the Health Management Information System
- A targeted study of transparency and accountability within the public health care provision of programs
- A study evaluating the hierarchy of health care decision making in the Indian government
- Creating district report cards for key health indicators
